Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh, has taken a monumental step into the future of urban mobility with the launch of its state-of-the-art metro system. The first phase, launched on 1 December 2024, saw the inauguration of three lines: the Blue (Line 1), Yellow (Line 4), and Purple (Line 6). This initial phase was quickly followed by the opening of the Red (Line 2) and Green (Line 5) lines on 15 December 2024. The network was completed with the launch of the Orange Line (Line 3) on 5 January 2025, marking the full operationalisation of the Riyadh Metro.
